EFSA stakeholders criticise member surveys

European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) surveys of its stakeholders had short shrift from industry and other producer groups at last month's meeting of the EFSA Stakeholder Consultative Platform. The message from the stakeholders was that EFSA has been analysing who they are for the past ten years and should know by now who they are dealing with. The stakeholders spoke out during an exchange with Karine Lheureux, Head of EFSA's Applications Desk Unit, where she explained the Authority was trying to build up a profile of applicants and develop a customer orientated approach. Euros Jones of the European Crop Protection Association was the most outspoken at the 26-27 March meeting, telling the Platform, "the concern here is we might be over evaluating who's out there ... we know who the stakeholders are."
