Hungary gets final warning over air pollution

Hungary's failure to protect the public from fine dust (PM10) pollution has landed it with a second reasoned opinion, the final warning before action in the EU Court of Justice, from the European Commission. The Commission said on 28 March that it was "concerned that Hungary is failing to protect citizens from fine dust pollution. These tiny particles originate in emissions from industry, traffic and domestic heating, and they can cause asthma, cardiovascular problems, lung cancer and premature death."
