Portland,ore.-A free electronics recycling program will begin Jan. 1 as the result of a bill (H.B. 2626a) passed in the 2007 biennial session of the Oregon Legislature.rnThe program, "Oregon E-Cycles," provides free and convenient recycling of computers, monitors, and televisions statewide. The program does not include free recycling of cell phones, computer peripherals, and other electronic items.rnUnder the new program, anyone presenting seven or fewer items may recycle them at no charge at collection sites throughout the state. Small businesses and non-profits with 10 or fewer employees may be able to present more than seven items at one visit, but those organizations should call the collection site ahead of time, according to the Oregon Department of Environment Quality. Larger organizations are required to pay a fee if they take more than seven items to the recycling collection sites.
