Green Jobs, Energy Efficiency Investments Outpace Other Sectors, Pew Report Finds

Looking to establish a baseline from which success in creating "green jobs" can be measured, the Pew Charitable Trusts published a report June 10 which found that the "clean energy economy has grown considerably" from 1998 to 2007.rnThe report, The Clean Energy Economy: Repowering Jobs, Businesses and Investments Across America, was published by Pew's Center on the States and Environment Group. It found job growth in clean energy and related sectors was higher over those 10 years than in the overall economy. Over that period, according to the report, overall job growth was 3.7 percent while growth in clean energy was 9.1 percent. In 2007, the report found, there were 770,385 jobs in the United States' clean energy economy, up from 706,151 in 1998.
