New Cost-Benefit Models Needed to Weigh Regulations' Impact on Environmental Justice

Economists and environmental analysts recommended March 18 that the Environmental Protection Agency develop new cost-benefit models on the impact of agency regulations on low-income and minority populations.rnParticipants in a panel discussion on economic analysis frameworks suggested that EPA consider new methods that allow regulators to measure the broadest health impacts and compare those health benefits with those resulting from policies that protect the most vulnerable populations. The panel discussion was held during an environmental justice symposium sponsored by the agency.
