Environmental Groups Plan to Sue EPA Over Ozone Nonattainment Designations

Five environmental and public health groups plan to sue the Environmental Protection Agency to force it to make nonattainment designations for ozone air quality standards issued three years ago, the groups said in an Oct. 6 notice of intent to EPA.The American Lung Association, the Environmental Defense Fund, the Natural Resources Defense Council, the National Parks Conservation Association, and the Appalachian Mountain Club said in their notice to EPA that they will sue in 60 days if the agency does not issue the overdue nonattainment designations for the ozone standards issued in 2008.
