Ceres Says U.S. Insurers Unprepared For Risks Posed by Climate Change

A majority of U.S. insurers are unprepared to manage risks associated with climate change, according to a report released Sept. 1 by the investor coalition group Ceres. Though there is broad consensus among insurers that climate change will have an effect on extreme weather, only 11 of 88 major insurers surveyed in 2010 have formal plans in place to deal with growing climate change risks, the report said.
