Reid Calls for Increased U.S. Investment In Clean Energy; Broad Energy Bill Unlikely

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) on April 27 called for increasing the country's investment and leadership in clean energy technologies after leading a congressional delegation on a one-week trip to China. "China is investing heavily in clean energy ... we have to proceed to do more on that," Reid said during a telephone briefing with reporters. Reid, however, stopped short of saying he would move forward on a broad energy bill, including legislation with incentives for clean energy, when Congress returns from its spring recess May 2.
