EPA Releases Final Water Quality Criteria To Protect Aquatic Life from Carbaryl

The Environmental Protection Agency published May 22 final national recommended water quality criteria for the protection of aquatic life from the effects of carbaryl (77 Fed. Reg. 30,280). The final criteria provide technical information to states and authorized tribes to use when adopting water quality standards for designated uses of the widely-used insecticide and molluscide, commonly known by the brand name Sevin®. The recommended criteria have no binding legal effect, EPA said.
