摘要

Rising global temperatures due to climate change are expected to significantly reduce available water supplies, according to federal, state, and municipal water resource officials who spoke at an American Bar Association conference. Speaking Feb. 23 on a panel at the 30th annual Water Law Conference sponsored by the ABA Section of Environment, Energy, and Resources, Carly Jerla, a hydrologist with the federal Bureau of Reclamation, said a survey of 112 global climate change models run by the bureau indicates a likely reduction in the water flow of the Colorado River of about 1.4 million acre-feet per year over the next 50 years, a 9 percent reduction from the past 100 years.
