New York, Washington State Join California In Requiring Climate Risk Data From Insurers

New York and Washington state have decided to join California in requiring insurance companies to provide data on climate change risks. California Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones Feb. 1 announced the multi-state effort to administer the Climate Risk Survey that the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) adopted three years ago. California had been the only state to administer the survey. Only insurers writing policies worth more than $300 million nationwide will be required to respond to the climate change survey.
