摘要

Rising global temperatures could have "potentially devastating" impacts on developing countries over the next few decades, but many of the worst impacts could still be avoided by holding the increase below 3.6 degrees Fahrenheit (2 degrees Celsius), according to a report commissioned by the World Bank. The impacts will pose increasing threats to those countries as global temperatures climb from the current level of 0.8 degree Celsius above pre-industrial levels to 4 degrees Celsius above those levels by the end of the century, the report said. The report, Turn Down the Heat: Climate Extremes, Regional Impacts, and the Case for Resilience, was released June 19. It was written by the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research.
