摘要

Greenhouse gases, sea levels, global temperatures and other "vital signs" of the Earth's health continued to show signs of a warming planet in 2013, according to an annual checkup released July 17 by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Concentrations of carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxides all reached new record levels in 2013, the report said. The year also saw a record high for global average sea level. Surface temperatures were higher than average across most of the world, with Australia experiencing record temperatures so hot that a new color had to be added to its meteorological map. "These findings reinforce what scientists for decades have observed-that our planet is becoming a warmer place," NOAA Administrator Kathryn Sullivan said. The report, "State of the Climate in 2013," was compiled by more than 400 scientists from 57 countries around the world.
