EPA Makes Diesel Grant Funding Available Through Program Targeted for Elimination

The Environmental Protection Agency will make $9 million in federal grant funding available under the Diesel Emissions Reduction Act (DERA) in fiscal year 2014, consistent with last year but significantly less than was available during the early years of the Obama administration. The DERA grant program, which funds projects to reduce air pollution from diesel engines in buses, heavy-duty trucks, locomotives and other vehicles, has been targeted for elimination by the administration despite substantial related health benefits and bipartisan support in Congress.
