EPA Inspector General to Probe Conduct Of Agency Assessment of Pebble Mine Plan

The inspector general of the Environmental Protection Agency said May 5 it will investigate whether the agency adhered to all laws, regulations, policies and procedures in developing its assessment of potential environmental impacts of the proposed Pebble Mine in the Bristol Bay area of Alaska. The review was being launched based on congressional requests and hotline complaints, according to Patricia Gilbride, director of the Science, Research and Management Integrity Evaluations within the EPA Office of Inspector General.
