A senior Environmental Protection Agency official's misconduct enabled convicted felon John Beale to commit fraud involving work time, attendance and air travel, an Office of the Inspector General report found. Beth Craig, who currently serves as the head of Climate Protection Partnerships in the agency's Office of Air and Radiation, "did not exercise due diligence" when reviewing Beale's time, attendance and travel vouchers, according to the report obtained by Bloomberg BNA May 1. That failure to exercise due diligence cost the agency a total of $184,193, of which $65,722 was for travel vouchers and $118,471 was for time and attendance fraud.
