NRDC, Financial Firms Launch Index To Help Investors Avoid Fossil Fuel Stocks

The Natural Resources Defense Council has partnered with fund manager BlackRock and global index provider FTSE Group to provide investors with a road map to avoid stocks linked to fossil fuels. A new global equity index series, launched April 29, is the first to exclude companies involved in exploration, ownership or extraction of coal, oil and gas reserves. The index is designed for the growing pool of climate-conscious investors who are looking to move away from fossil fuels to avoid potentially stranded assets under a carbon-constrained future, the Natural Resources Defense Council said.
