Reclamation Announces $44.3 Million For Western Water Infrastructure Projects

The Bureau of Reclamation announced the allocation of $44.3 million in fiscal year 2014 funding for water infrastructure projects in the West. The funding will provide financial assistance and construction support for rural water projects, address infrastructure to maintain system reliability and safety, restore aquatic habitat, and continue the bureau's focus on water-related activities to support tribal nations, the bureau said in a March 3 news release. It will also help meet the increasing water demands of the western U.S. and support activities that increase water resiliency in the face of drought consistent with President Barack Obama's Climate Action Plan, the bureau said. A total of $27.1 million will be provided to advance five infrastructure projects in rural communities that will deliver clean, reliable drinking water to remote areas, the agency said.
