EPA Chief Defends Agency Actions On Ozone, Climate Change, Pesticides

The head of the Environmental Protection Agency spent more than two hours before a House panel defending the agency's decisions to revise national air quality standards for ozone, regulate greenhouse gas emissions from power plants and remove a pesticide study from its website. Right at the outset of the hearing, Rep. Lamar Smith (R-Texas), the House Science, Space and Technology Committee chairman, accused Administrator Gina McCarthy of pursuing a political agenda at the EPA rather than using sound science to write regulations.
