METHOD OF REMOVING, FROM A STREAM OF GAS, FLUORINATED COMPOUNDS WHICH CONTRIBUTE TO DESTRUCTION OF THE OZONE LAYER AND/OR CHANGES IN CLIMATE, AND USE OF THE METHOD
PCT No. PCT/EP97/03318 Sec. 371 Date Dec. 23, 1998 Sec. 102(e) Date Dec. 23, 1998 PCT Filed Jun. 24, 1997 PCT Pub. No. WO97/49479 PCT Pub. Date Dec. 31, 1997A process is provided for removing fluorinated compounds, such as perfluorinated or partially fluorinated C1 to C4 hydrocarbons, NF3 and SF6, out of a gas by passing this gas through gamma alumina, wherein the temperature of the gamma alumina is between ambient temperature and 600 DEG C. The gas stream and the gamma alumina are anhydrous. The fluorinated compounds chemically react with the gamma alumina to result in a gas containing a diminished quantity of fluorinated compounds and an aluminum fluoride containing composition.
