Wyoming to Intervene as Defendant in Suit Challenging Interior's Sage Grouse Plan

Wyoming will intervene as a defendant in a lawsuit by several environmental groups challenging the Interior Department's decision not to list the greater sage grouse under the Endangered Species Act (W. Matt Mead (R) said March 10 he has directed the state's attorney general to intervene on the side of the Bureau of Land Management and the U.S. Forest Service, defendants in a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the District of Idaho. The complaint was filed by the Western Watersheds Project, WildEarth Guardians, the Center for Biological Diversity and the Prairie Hills Audubon Society. Mead said the state was joining the lawsuit because it was directed at the state's Greater Sage-Grouse Core Area Protection strategy.
