Resolution to Overturn U.S. Waters Rule Will Be Taken Up by House Rules Panel

The House Rules Committee announced Jan. 7 that it will take up the joint resolution that seeks to overturn an Obama administration regulation clarifying Clean Water Act jurisdiction on Jan. 11. The House floor vote on the resolution (S.J. Res. 22) could occur as early as the following day, according to a House aide. The resolution of disapproval (S.J. Res. 22) seeks to overturn the jurisdiction rule by invoking the Congressional Review Act. The resolution, however, can only take effect if the President signs it.
