Energy Dept. Rule Delays Pose 'Problem': Appliance Manufacturers

Delays of effective dates for several Energy Department rules—including a ceiling fan energy-efficiency standard and test procedures for walk-in coolers—may lead to some uncertainty among appliance manufacturers, industry and energy-efficiency advocacy groups say. The Energy Department delayed effective dates for two energy-efficiency standards for ceiling fans and low-rise residential buildings by six months from March 21 to Sept. 30. It also delayed effective dates for three test procedures covering walk-in coolers, central air conditioners and air compressors by about three months from March 21.
