Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen says the U.S. government will work to help mobilize private capital flows into green infrastructure.1. “The transition to a global, low-carbon economy represents one of the most important and consequential economic transitions in human history,” Yellen says in text of remarks she’sscheduled to deliver Thursday in a pre-recorded speech to the 2021 G-20 Infrastructure Investors 2. Dialogue, a virtual conference sponsored by the Organization for EconomicCooperation and Development3. “One piece of that transition must be facilitating greater investment in clean, sustainable infrastructure,” Yellen said4. U.S. and other countries cannot reach goals for reducing greenhouse gas emissions “if we do not have a credible plan for unlocking the required capital flows”5. Doing so requires creating a framework for clear and compatible data for investors on how companies and projects measure up to environmental, social and governance standards.
