National Academies to Hold Workshop on Federal PFAS Research

The National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine will review and identify data gaps in federalagency research into widely used PFAS chemicals at a two-day virtual public workshop this fall.The EPA said Monday that it’s joining the departments of Defense, Agriculture, and Health and HumanServices to engage the National Academies to coordinate federal research activities into PFAS, or per- andpolyfluoroalkyl substances. This class of chemicals are extensively used in firefighting foam and numerousconsumer products and have been linked to health concerns.
