General Electric Co. is asking a U.S. trade agency to block imports from rival wind-turbine manufacturer Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SA, marking its latest effort to defend a patented technology. GE filed a complaint with the U.S. International Trade Commission, saying Spain-based Siemens Gamesa is using patented technology to protect its turbines from dramatic fluctuations in power. GE challenged similar offerings from Vestas Wind Systems A/S in 2017 and from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. in 2010. A federal jury awarded Boston-based GE $170 million in the latter case, though the companies later settled.
