Ningxia Baofeng Energy Group, which makes coal-based chemical products, started construction on a 1.4 billionyuan ($198 million) pilot project that will use solar power to make hydrogen, Xinhua News Agency reported Monday.The project, in China’s northwestern Ningxia region, will use 200 megawatts of solar generation to power anelectrolyzer that can produce 160 million normal cubic meters of hydrogen annually, according to the report, citingthe company. The development also includes a fueling station in Yinchuan city that can supply 1,000 kilograms ofhydrogen per day and hydrogen-powered buses to demonstrate the technology.
