China to Track Hazardous Waste from Production to Disposal

China will for the first time track industrial hazardous waste from production to disposal, hoping to haltillegal dumping, the country’s environmental ministry announced.The policy has similarities to the U.S. Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, which deals specificallywith production and disposal of hazardous waste, and the European Pollutant Release and TransferRegister, which covers hazardous waste as well as other industrial emissions.
