EU Making Slow Progress Cutting Air Pollution- Caused Deaths

Exposure to fine particulate air pollution from vehicle tailpipes and other sources kills about 374,000European Union residents each year, the European Environment Agency said Oct. 16.Premature deaths are especially high in Italy and in eastern European countries including Bulgaria, theCzech Republic, Poland, and Romania, where residents are exposed to fine particles, or particles with adiameter of 2.5 micrometers or less (PM2.5), above EU legal values, the agency said in a report.
