Stakeholder dialogues in natural resources management: theory and practice

In this edited volume, Susanne Stoll-Kleeman and Martin Welp offer a reflexive and integrative theoretical framework within which to develop the practice of stakeholder dialogues for natural resource management. Stakeholder participation has become established internationally, not only in natural resources management, but across many other sectors, as an important way of engaging key actors within decision-making processes. However, effectively engaging stakeholders is not straightforward. Amongst others, issues include the fairness and transparency of the process, access to information, and the legitimacy of the stakeholders chosen to participate. The recognition and resolution of these difficulties forms the starting point of this book.
