Crime modelling and mapping using geospatial technologies

Crime Modelling and Mapping using Geospatial Technologies is the eighth volume in the Springer 'Geotechnologies and the Environment' series and is a well-rounded collection of papers providing a broad overview of the crime modelling and mapping (CMM) sub-disciplines. Based on a series of sessions entitled 'Crime Modelling and Mapping', delivered at the 2010 AAG Annual Meeting in Washington DC, the book comprises 18 chapters organised across five themes: Fundamental Spatial Problems (Chapters 1-2); Crime Analysis (Chapters 3-7); Crime Modelling (Chapters 9-13); Crime Mapping (Chapters 14-16) and Applications and Implementations (Chapters 17-18). Leitner, in his editorial (pp.v-ix), suggests that this assembly is 'reflective of the logical structure when writing a research paper' and this seems a fair analogy for the work.
