摘要

House Democrats are accusing EPA of making misleading claims about the complexity of pending cleanups at toxic waste sites in an effort to preserve a $27 million increase for Superfund cleanups contained in the agency's pending fiscal year 2008 spending bill, which President Bush has threatened to veto, Capitol Hill sources say.rnIn a Sept. 12 letter, House Energy & Commerce Committee Chairman John Dingell (D-MI) and other committee leaders told EPA Administrator Stephen Johnson that the agency "unreasonably inflated" data pertaining to the complexity of toxic waste sites remaining in the Superfund cleanup pipeline in an attempt to explain why cleanups have slowed under the Bush administration. The letter is available on InsideEPA.com. Seepage 2 for details.
