EPA and two other federal agencies have apparently resolved a brewing controversy over which agency will coordinate research that implements the National Academy of Sciences' (NAS) landmark "vision" for the future of toxicity testing by approving a final inter-agency agreement that will establish a new three-member panel to share leadership responsibility. Internal struggles over which agency should be responsible for overseeing implementation of the NAS recommendations surfaced last year but now appear to be resolved under the forthcoming agreement.
