Epa 'annual' Superfund Report Spurs Criticisms Of Inadequate Data

EPA has for the first time in several years released an 'annual' Superfund cleanup program report, but activists are criticizing the document, saying it fails to meet annual reporting requirements under Superfund law about the performance of the program that are designed to aid congressional oversight efforts. EPA recently made available its Fiscal Year 2007 Superfund Annual Report, which 'highlights some of the many accomplishments of EPA's Superfund remedial, removal, enforcement and federal facilities programs' during FY07, according to the document. 'Within this report are many local success stories that document the Superfund program's involvement with and contributions to communities throughout the country over the past fiscal year,' EPA says in a prologue.
