Proponents Tout Benefits Of TSCA Reform But Industry Raises Doubts

Environmentalists and other proponents of reforming the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) are stepping up their efforts to reform the law and touting a host of health and economic benefits to make their case, but some in industry are questioning the chances that a divided Congress will pass reform legislation this session. One industry source, for example, questions whether House Republicans even want to "start a process that may end up in conference" on a revised Democratic TSCA reform bill, S.847, recently introduced by Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ), that some industry groups say would not adequately address their previous concerns.
