The Department of Energy (DOE) needs to research better how to manage its nuclear waste in light of the Obama administration's cancellation of the Yucca Mountain repository program, given significant cost increases and other complications DOE and the U.S. Navy could experience due to the cancellation, the Government Accountability Office (GAO) says in a recent report.
