Nearly seven years after DOE dismantled the Yucca Mountain repository project in Nevada, the US Government Accountability Office reported May 26 that both DOE and NRC would have to rebuild their organizational capabilities, including recruiting specialists, before they could restart the licensing proceeding for the proposed high-level waste repository.
