Industries Pitch EPA Rules For OMB To Review Using New Executive Order

Industry groups are pitching EPA air, water and other rules - including a boiler air toxics rule and a water pollution control plan for the Chesapeake Bay - for the White House Office of Management & Budget (OMB) to review under new "retrospective" regulatory review requirements in a recent President Obama executive order (E.O.). The Jan. 18 order requires EPA and other agencies to craft plans to review "existing, significant" regulations to determine "whether any such regulations should be modified, streamlined, expanded, or repealed so as to make the agency's regulatory program more effective or less burdensome in achieving the regulatory objectives."
