摘要

President Obama has nominated James Jones, the acting chief of EPA's Office of Chemical Safety and Pollution Prevention (OCSPP), to lead the office on a permanent basis, a nomination that could raise the profile of the administration's toxics policies as the Senate weighs Jones' selection. According to a Jan. 23 White House press release, Obama announced his intent to nominate Jones, who has been at EPA since the 1990s. OCSPP, which oversees the agency's regulation of industrial chemicals and pesticides, has been without an assistant administrator since former chief Steve Owens left the position in late November with several accomplishments but a host of key policies still stalled at the White House.
