SAB Requires Re-Write Of Biomass CO2 Recommendations To EPA

Prolonging uncertainty on how EPA should account for carbon dioxide emissions from biomass power, the agency's Science Advisory Board (SAB) is asking a special panel to re-write its draft recommendations on the issue, with several board members saying the panel's draft report should better address key questions such as the time frame for considering emissions, and other issues. The full board voted April 1 to return the draft document to the SAB panel that originally crafted the recommendations to address a number of concerns. The board also voted to "augment" the panel with lead reviewers and other SAB members, including some who were critical of the draft document.
