Final TCE Evaluation Finds Many Risks For Biden EPA To Regulate

The incoming Biden administration will be asked to regulate dozens of uses of the common solvent trichloro-ethylene (TCE) under TSCA after EPA issued a final evaluation that finds almost all of the assessed uses pose unreasonable risk, despite declining to evaluate risks based on controversial evidence that exposure can cause fetal heart defects. EPA on Nov. 23 released its final evaluation of TCE, finding that 52 of 54 evaluated uses of the chemical pose unreasonable risk that the agency must regulate under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA).
