Feinstein Draft Climate Resolution Seeks To Reinstate Obama GHG Efforts

A new draft climate change resolution by Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), offered as an alternative to the more ambitious Green New Deal (GND), would largely reinstate a suite Obama-era greenhouse gas rules and policies that Trump officials are trying to roll back, including EPA's Clean Power Plan utility GHG rule and passenger vehicle GHG limits. Feinstein's Feb. 22 draft resolution would also set a 2050 deadline for the United States to reduce its net GHG emissions to zero, rather than the GND's 2030 deadline. It also stops short of seeking the job guarantees and dramatic social changes in the GND that Republicans have seized on to argue the plan is too costly and extreme.
