The Warren Centre for Advanced Engineering has launched its National Energy Essay Competition. The centre is looking for essays of 10,000 words on Australia's energy supply and demand. Writers will be competing for major prizes of $20,000 each and the $5000 award for a writer under 22. The essay will have to discuss primary energy sources for the 2010-2050 period, as well as prospective energy sources to meet the needs beyond 2050. The competition is open to Australian citizens or permanent residents under the age of 31. Contestants can work in teams of up to three people. The closing date for entries is 22 August, with winners to be announced in October.
