Digital imaging equipment has simplified the practices of Industrial Materials Processing, a western Sydney metal manufacturing company. Its 3D CAD detailing service involves laser profile cutting and press brake folding of stainless steel products including arrester traps, grated drains, cisterns and drinking fountains. The part or a cardboard template is supplied and imaged. From this image, a CAD file is produced which can be used to cut a new part. Replicating the dimensions of a simple part or template could take around ten minutes. Without software it would take substantially longer, particularly if the part had radii or multiradii to be calculated. The job of measuring and drawing could take hours, depending on the shapes.
