PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reverse engineering system and method, and a program therefor to generate curved surface data (surfacing) for arch-shaped or curved parts or complicated-shape parts, allow a user to individually register the parts, and generate a curved surface model (surfacing) even when a point group acquired by a 3D laser scanner is unclear.;SOLUTION: The system includes a means for tracking a point group by fitting the point group to a cross-sectional shape and sequentially arranging or sweeping it; a means for rearranging the cross-sectional shape with respect to a generated primary model; and a function allowing a user to register the cross-sectional shape as one of the parts.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
