Structural engineers develop rocking building

Engineers from Aurecon's New Zealand team have received an award from the Institution of Structural Engineers (UK) for a structural system that allows a building to rock from side to side to reduce damage during earthquakes.rnThe award was in the Education or Healthcare Structure category of the 2009 Structural Awards. It recognises the work performed by the company on the Te Puni Village, a cluster of student accommodation buildings in Wellington.rnAurecon was engaged by Victoria University of Wellington to provide structural, geotechnical, building services and civil design for the buildings.
