Major Step Completed Towards Strategic Plan

Engineers Australia has conducted workshops in all of its divisions, asking members what trends, influences and critical events are likely to affect engineering in the near future. The findings from the workshops are going to inform Engineers Australia's preparation of its Strategic Plan for 2010-2015. The results of the workshops are summarised in a report recently uploaded on the Engineers Australia website. Members identified 30 critical "wildcards" that are likely to affect engineering. These include globalisation, skills shortages, urbanisation and shifts in ownership and control of infrastructure.
