The second major desalination plant in Australia is due to come online this month, marking the end of a schedule that saw the construction of the plant begin while design and approvals were still being sought. With unique features including tunnelled access to deep water, a residuals treatment stage and the ability to operate at 1/3, 2/3 or full capacity, the plant will be a rainfall independent water source for the southeast Queensland community.
