Regulation of the profession welcome

I read with great interest the article by Peter Godfrey on establishing new regulation in Australia for the engineering profession (Engineers Australia February). I sincerely welcome this. I have just returned from living in the US where I worked with a multidiscipline consulting firm. During my time there, I became a part of the US engineering proc-rness and grew to understand it and enjoy it. I could see the state regulations benefitted the profession there. The designs issued with projects were of a high quality. I feel this was due to the regulation there.
