In response to Nathan Keen's letter in the September 2010 issue ("Shortage hard to believe"), our company has been advertising for an engi-neer for the past three years, with one positive result. All our applicants have been recent immigrants or still live over-seas. This tells me that there is a shortage of engineers in Australia. We are looking for a civil engineer with specific experi-ence in project management, surveying, CAD design and supervision of staff and sub-contractors. We managed to hire one engineer who subsequently moved on after nine months and we have not been able to replace him.
